WEM Community Center
West End Ministries' Community Center is the hub of the many programs and services we offer to the community. From the youngest child to our honored senior adults, there is always something exciting happening in the WEM Community Center. Below are a few of the many programs and services offered.
The Emergency Assistance Program was created to help people with economic emergencies. The program provides eligible households with supplemental rental/mortgage assistance to prevent eviction and provides supplemental utility assistance to prevent disconnection of vital water, electricity and gas. Assistance is provided by appointment only. For further information regarding emergency assistance, please call (336) 884-1105.
At West End Ministries, we are committed to serving the community through the Food Ministry. The Community Meal is a hot meal served weekly on Thursday at 5:00 PM.
From the Food Pantry, every Thursday between 2:00-4:00 p.m. or in emergency situations, neighbors can also receive boxes of canned food and other food items that are equivalent to a week’s worth of groceries. Please bring a photo ID and a bill with your current address on it. Many of our friends and neighbors rely heavily on the Food Ministry each week and this could not be accomplished without the generosity of time, food and financial resources from the High Point community.
West End Ministries recognizes that there is a thriving population of senior adult citizens in the West End neighborhood. By providing senior adult programming, neighbors are able to continue to be involved and active in the community around them. Senior Adult programs are held twice a month, open to anyone ages 60 or older and those who either live, work or worship in the West End area. Additional activities include musical entertainment, movies and trips planned on various occasions and Bingo is held monthly on the fourth Tuesday at 1:00 PM. Of course, there is always food, as well. Please join us! Check out our pictures on the Facebook link below.
Tutoring Programs are available for elementary age children in need of a little extra attention in reading and math, and for adults trying to obtain their GED.
Women of West End (WOW)
The Women of West End, also known as WOW, is a program for women in the community to come together to share and learn from each other's experiences. These sessions include arts and crafts, games, discussions, snacks and warm hearted fellowhip. The group meets monthly from September through May.
